"Happy Men's Day"

Earth belongs to Allah and his Apostle

Hadith1
 Narrated Abu Huraira: While we were in the mosque,

Allah's Apostle came out to us and said, "Let us proceed to the Jews." So we went
along with him till we reached Bait-al-Midras (a place where the Torah used to be
recited and all the Jews of the town used to gather). The Prophet stood up and
addressed them, "O Assemblyof Jews! Embrace Islam and you will be safe!" The Jews replied, "O Aba-l-Qasim! You have conveyed Allah's message to us." The Prophet said, "That is what I want (from you)." He repeated his first statement for the second time, and they said, "You have conveyed Allah's message, O Aba-l-Qasim." Then he said it for the third time and added, "You should Know that the earth belongs to Allah and His Apostle, and I want to exile you from , this land, so
whoever among you owns some property, can sell it, otherwise you should know that the Earth belongs to Allah and His Apostle." (See Hadith No. 392, Vol. 4)

Sahih Bukhari Volume9, Book 85, Number 77

Hadith2
 Narrated Abu Huraira: While we were in the Mosque,
the Prophet came out and said, "Let us go to the Jews" We went out till we reached Bait-ul-Midras. He said to them, "If you embrace Islam, you will be safe. You should know that the earth belongs to Allah and His Apostle, and I want to expel you from this land. So, if anyone amongst you owns some property, he is permitted to sell it, otherwise you should know that the Earth belongs to Allah and His Apostle."

Sahih Bukhari Volume 4, Book 53, Number 392

The Holy Prophet Muhammed Sallalaahu Alaihi wasallam holds the keys to the treasures of this word

 Narrated 'Uqba bin 'Amr: The Prophet once came out and offered the funeral prayer for the martyrs of Uhud, and proceeded to the pulpit and said, "I shall be your predecessor and a witness on you, and I am really looking at my sacred Fount now, and no doubt, I have been given the keys of the treasures of the world. By Allah, I am not afraid that you will worship others along with Allah, but  I am afraid that you will envy and fight one another for worldly fortunes."

Sahih Bukhari Volume 4, Book 56, Number 795:

The holy prophet Muhammed Sallalaahu Alaihi wasallam could also see the sacred fountain of Kawthar from his pulpit which we will see if we go to heaven, (Inshallah) , May Allah guide us with a means of guidance , May Allah forgive our sins through the wasila of the Holy Prophet Muhammed Sallalaahu Alaihi wasallam

THE SUN AND THE MOON, ALLAH’S SIGNS

[ALLAH’S Quran – 41:37]  “And of HIS Signs are the night and the day and the sun and the moon. Prostrate not yourselves before the sun, nor before the moon, but prostrate yourselves before ALLAH, Who created them, if it is HIM Whom you really worship.”

The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) has said:
[Bukhari, Book #18, Hadith#170] “Narrated Abu Bakra: In the life-time of the Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) the sun eclipsed and he went out dragging his clothes till he reached the Mosque. The people gathered around him and he led them and offered two Rakat. When the sun (eclipse) cleared, he said, "The sun and the moon are two signs amongst the signs of Allah; they do not eclipse because of the death of someone, and so when an eclipse occurs, pray and invoke Allah till the eclipse is over." It happened that a son of the Prophet called Ibrahim died on that day and the people were talking about that (saying that the eclipse was caused by his death).”

Do Not Grieve At My Death by Al-Ghazaalee

Do Not Grieve At My Death!

{Al-Ghazaalee said:-}

“Say to my friends, when they look

upon me Dead.

Weeping for me and mourning me

in sorrow.

Do not believe that this corpse is myself  !

In the name of Allaah,

I tell you, it is not I.

I am a spirit {!!!}

And this is nothing but flesh !

It was my abode and my garment

for a time.

I am a pearl which has left its shell.

I am a bird, and this body

was my cage.

I have now flown forth and it is left

as a token.

All praise be to Allaah,

....Who has now set me free !

[from the shackles of life].

Think not that death is death.

No.....!

.....it is [the beginning of a new] life.'

A Lil Note :-

 There are many Metaphors used in this passage of-

Al-Ghazaalee's -----

Loving some one for Allah's sake

"It is narrated by Mu‘adh bin Jabal that he heard the Messenger of Allah saying:

   Allah the Exalted and Almighty said: ‘My love has been made obligatory for those two persons who love each other on My count and spend time together for My sake, and see each other for My sake and give money to each other generously for My sake.’"

This sahih (sound) hadith narrated by Malik bin Anas in al-Muwatta, b. of sha‘ar (hair) ch.5 (2:954#16), and Ibn ‘Abd-ul-Barr said its chain is good. Ahmad bin Hambal also transmitted it in his Musnad (5:233); Hakim in al-Mustadrak (4:169), who graded it sahih, and also confirmed by Dhahabi; Baghawi in Sharh-us-sunnah, (13:49-50#3463); Khatib Tabrizi in Mishkat-ul-masabih, b. of adab (good manners) ch.16 (3:75#5011).

Destruction of Deeds and Imaan with disrespect to the Holy Prophet

Those who disrespected the Holy Prophet Muhammed Sallalaahu Alahi wasallam directly or anything associated with him directly like his city which he loved Madina, or his beloved Sahaba or Ahle Bayt  have indulged in a sin which destroyed  all deeds and thier faith

Narrated Sad: I heard the Prophet saying, "None plots against the people of Medina but that he will be dissolved (destroyed) like the salt is dissolved in water."

Sahih Bukhari Volume 3, Book 30, Number 101:

Narrated Abu Sa’id: While the Holy  Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) was distributing (something) , ‘Abdullah bin Dhil Khawaisira At-Tamimi came and said, “Be just, O Allah’s Apostle!” The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “Woe to you ! Who would be just if I were not?” ‘Umar bin Al-Khattab(radiallahu taala anhu ) said, “Allow me to cut off his neck ! ” The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, ” Leave him, for he has companions, and if you compare your prayers with their prayers and your fasting with theirs, you will look down upon your prayers and fasting, in comparison to theirs. Yet they will go out of the religion as an arrow darts through the game’s body in which case, if the Qudhadh of the arrow is examined, nothing will be found on it, and when its Nasl is examined, nothing will be found on it; and then its Nadiyi is examined, nothing will be found on it. The arrow has been too fast to be smeared by dung and blood. The sign by which these people will be recognized will be a man whose one hand (or breast) will be like the breast of a woman (or like a moving piece of flesh). These people will appear when there will be differences among the people (Muslims).” Abu Sa’id(radiallahu taala anhu ) added: I testify that I heard this from the Prophet(Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and also testify that ‘Ali (May Allah be pleased with him ) killed those people while I was with him. The man with the description given by the Prophet(Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) was brought to ‘Ali(may Allah be pleased with him). The following Verses were revealed in connection with that very person (i.e., ‘Abdullah bin Dhil-Khawaisira At-Tarnimi):

 ‘And among them are men who accuse you (O Muhammad(
Salallahu Alaihi wasallam)) in the matter of (the distribution of) the alms.’ (9.58)

Sahih Al Bukhari Volume 9, Book 84, Number 67

Raising Doubts about Prophet sins

Narrated 'Aisha: Whenever Allah's Apostle ordered the Muslims to do something, he used to order them deeds which were easy for them to do, (according to their strength and endurance). They said, "O Allah's Apostle! We are not like you. Allah has forgiven your past and future sins." So Allah's Apostle became angry and it was apparent on his face. He said, "I am the most God fearing, and know Allah better than all of you do."

Sahih Bukhari Volume 1, Book 2, Number 19:

Here the people wanted to do more than that what the Holy Prophet ordered , and claimed that the sins of the Holy Prophet Muhammed Sallalaahu Alaihi wasallam are already forgiven but theirs are not , so they taught they need to do more, They were a few things which made the Prophet angry and though they did not become Khawarij like those who disrespected him directly, Still anger was displayed on his blessed  face1) The people did not recognize that Obeying the Holy Prophet Sallalaahu alaihi wasallam  is Obeying Allah

2) They tried to compete with him like he is an ordinary human being like them and did not recognize his exceptional status bestowed upon him3) The Holy Prophet Muhammed Sallalaahu Alaihi wasallam is the biggest intercessor for the forgiveness of sins

These reasons are apparent but they could be many more

Faith is a saviour on the Day of Judgement

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri: The Prophet said, "When the people of Paradise will enter Paradise and the people of Hell will go to Hell, Allah will order those who have had faith equal to the weight of a grain of mustard seed to be taken out from Hell. So they will be taken out but (bythen) they will be blackened (charred). Then theywill be put in the river of Haya' (rain) or Hayat (life) (the Narrator is in doubt as to which is the right term), and they will revive like a grain that grows near the bank of a flood channel. Don't you see that it comes out yellow and twisted"

Sahih Buhkari Volume 1, Book 2, Number 21:

Love for Prophet MUHAMAD SAWW

Hadith 1

 Narrated Abu Huraira: "Allah's Apostle said, "By Him in Whose Hands my life is, none of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father and his children."

Sahih Bukhari Volume 1, Book 2, Number 13:

Hadith 2
Narrated Anas: The Prophet said "None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father, his children and all mankind."

Sahih Bukhari  Volume 1, Book 2, Number 14:

Hadith 3
 Narrated Anas: The Prophet said, "Whoever possesses the following three qualities will have the sweetness (delight) of faith:
1. The one to whom Allah and His Apostle becomes dearer than anything else.
2. Who loves a person and he loves him only for Allah's sake.
3. Who hates to revert to Atheism (disbelief) as he hates to be thrown into the fire."

Sahih Bukhari  Volume 1, Book 2, Number 15:

Narrated by Anas
A man asked the Prophet about the Hour (i.e. Day of Judgment) saying, "When will the Hour be?" The Prophet said, "What have you prepared for it?" The man said, "Nothing, except that I love Allah and His Apostle." The Prophet said, "You will be with those whom you love." We had never been so glad as we were on hearing that saying of the Prophet (i.e., "You will be with those whom you love.") Therefore, I love the Prophet, Abu Bakr and 'Umar, and I hope that I will be with them because of my love for them though my deeds are not similar to theirs.

Healing for Mankind

Allah the Almighty says:-

"Your Lord revealed to the Bees:-

"Build dwellings in the mountains and the trees, and also in the structures which men erect.

Then eat from every kind of fruit and travel the paths of your Lord, which have been made easy for you to follow."

From inside them comes a drink of varying colours, containing healing for mankind. There is certainly a Sign in that for people who reflect"
{ Source 'Quran' ~Surat An-Naĥl ~ (The Bee) ~16~ # 68 -69 }

Prophet Muhammad [Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam] had a habit of taking honey with cold water on an empty stomach

Prophet Muhammad [Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam ] used to drink honey with cold water, and this is an especially effective method to preserve the health that only the best doctors could have knowledge of. Drinking honey on an empty stomach will dissolve phlegm...purify the stomach’s protective layers and .. dissipate its viscidity and excrements while heating it mildly.
Honey helps against the clogs in stomach,kidney,liver and prostate !

Honey is much more profitable to the stomach than any other sweet.
 { Source:- Ibn Al Qayyam ~ Prophet's Guidance on Beverages ~ Drinks) "Habits }

Notes :-

Although honey is one of the most important products of the bee, yet it is not the only product.

Honey wax, propolis, nectar, bee toxicant are cases in point of other products that proved by experimental science to be of medical benefits. Honey has more than 80 materials of sugar vitamins and 15 materials of sugars, particularly fructose, glucose, minerals, amino acids and about 5% of unclassified materials....

"Experiments conducted on honey show that its bactericide properties increase twofold when diluted in water.
It is very interesting to note that newly born bees in the colony are nourished with diluted honey by the bees responsible for their supervision".

“containing Healing for mankind”....['Quran]

is an Explicit verse indicating that Honey is a Treatment as well as a Nutrient.

Drunken Man

Abu Hurairah ( PBUH) Reported :
A man who had drunk wine was brought to the Prophet (PBUH) and he asked us to beat him ; some struck him with their hands, some with their garments (making a whip) and some with their sandals. When he (the drunkard) had gone, some of the people said :
 " May Allah disgrace You ! ''
 He (The Prophet (PBUH)) said,
" Do not say so. Do not help the devil against him ".
[Al-Bukhari].
Commentary: To imprecate a Muslim virtually amounts to helping Satan against him, because the latter is avowed to mislead people and to expose man to humiliation in this world and the Hereafter. Such people who believe that no Hadd punishment is fixed for drinking take support from this Hadith. They hold that its punishment is discretionary which can be increased or decreased according to the circumstances. But other learned men who hold that its Hadd is forty stripes argue that the incident quoted in this Hadith relates to the period when its Hadd had not been fixed. When the Prophet (PBUH) ordered the punishment of forty stripes for it then it became its prescribed Hadd. Abu Bakr (May Allah be pleased with him) followed it during the period of his caliphate. `Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) also applied it in the early years of his caliphate but subsequently raised its punishment to eighty stripes. The `Ulama' who maintain the punishment of forty stripes contend that the original Hadd was forty stripes and the additional forty stripes comprised discretionary punishment for which the Head of a state has full authority. If he feels, he can add discretionary punishment to the Hadd. The nature of this additional punishment depends on his discretion. The latter opinion seems to be more correct that Hadd is fixed for drinking and its punishment is not based on discretion. The Hadd for it is forty stripes but this Hadd can be increased by adding discretionary punishment to it. Allah knows best

rights of brotherhood

Allah سبحانه و تعالى Said:

إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ إِخْوَةٌ

"The believers are but brothers (in Deen)..." [Al-Hujuraat, 10]

The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم Said:

ا يـؤمـن احـدكـم حـتي يـحـب لأخـيـه مــا يـحـبـه لـنـفـسـه

"None of you will truly believe until he loves for his brother what he loves for himelf..."
[Agreed upon]

From the characteristics of our Salaf was their genuine concern for their fellow Muslims. Realising the acute implication of such Ayaat and ahadeeth, they could not overstate its importance and how they reacted to their own shortfall in this regard.

Al-Sarri al-Saqati (d. 253 AH) said:

منذ ثلاثين سنة أنا في الاستغفار من قولي: الحمد لله مرة
قيل: وكيف ذلك؟
فقال: وقع ببغداد حريق، فاستقبلني رجل، فقال لي: نجا حانوتك
فقلت: الحمد لله. فمنذ ثلاثين سنة أنا نادم على ما قلت، حيث أردت لنفسي خيرًا مما حصل للمسلمين

"For thirty years I have been making istighfar for saying (the word): 'Al Hamdulillah'.

It was said: 'And how is that?'

He replied: 'A fire occurred in Baghdad, and a man (came and) told me that my shop was saved (from the fire).

So I said: 'Al Hamdulillah'. I regret what I said for thirty years because I sought goodness for myself before (thinking about) what happened to (other) Muslims."

[Al-Manawi, 'Fayd Al-Qadeer', 124/1]

One may say such examples exist on the tongues of people today, where we seek fortune and goodness for others as much as ourselves, but how many actually mean it or try to put these words in tangible action? And how many would spend more than a day regretting something they may have said or done that infringed upon the rights of brotherhood?

Tawfeeq indeed is from Allah alone.

one more day to live

Just close your eyes and imagine...

You have just one {1}

more day to live!

One more day to show Allah,
What “Jannah” he should give?

To say goodbye to your family,
And all your closest friends;

To ask for forgiveness,
And try to make amends...

Just close your eyes and imagine...

Did you miss a prayer or two {?}

Did you please Allah, and do the things,
He asks every person to do?

Just close your eyes and imagine....

Tomorrow you will be gone!!!

No more second chances,
To smell the mist of dawn;

Just close your eyes and imagine,
The angels are going to come,
To take your soul and ask,
In your life “what have you done”?

Just close your eyes and imagine,
The words you want to say;
Will not come out you may realize,
For all your deeds you’ll pay;
You want to speak out, to cry out,
In Allah I believe;
But, silence beckons you,
No more can u deceive;

Just close your eyes and imagine...

Finally...
Your silence breaks away !!!

You tell the angels you believe in Allah,
And for him, you did pray;
You say as tears are pouring down your face
Please, Allah, forgive me,
For the sins that I committed,

Have mercy is my plea!

Just close your eyes and imagine,
That the smell of musk surrounds you,
From your head down to your feet;
You realize Allah forgave you,
Hell fire you did defeat;

But we all know as Muslims,
When it’s time for you to die;

You’ll not be given a second chance,
To say a last goodbye !

So live each day as If it’s your last,
And never forget to pray;
So when the angels come to ask,
You’ll know the words to say ! !

Son of Adam!

You are nothing but a number of days, whenever each day passes then part of you has Gone {!!!}

worst person in islam

POISIONS of the HEART

The unrestrained glance results in the one who looks becoming attracted to what he sees, and in the imprinting of an image of what he sees in his heart. This can result in several kinds of corruption in the heart of the servant.

The following are a number a them:-

It has been related that the Prophet (Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) once said :-

The glance is a poisoned arrow of shaytaan.

Whoever lowers his gaze for Allah, He will bestow upon him a refreshing sweetness, which he will find in his heart on the day he meets Him.

Shaytan enters with the glance, for he travels with it, faster than the wind blowing through an empty place. He makes what is seen appear more beautiful than it really is, and transforms it in to an idol for the heart to worship. Then he promises it false rewards, lights the fire of desires within it, and fuels it with the wood of forbidden actions, which the servant would not have committed had it not been for this distorted image....

This distracts the heart and makes it forget its more important concerns. It stands between it and them; and so the heart loses it’s straight path and falls into the pit of desire and ignorance.

Allah~ [Mighty and Glorious is He] says:-

And do not obey anyone whose heart We have made forgetful in remembering Us – who follows his own desires, and whose affair has exceeded all bounds.
[Source:- 'Quran' ~Surah al-Kahf: Ayah # 28]

The unrestrained gaze causes all three [3]afflictions. It has been said that between the eye and the heart is an immediate connection !!!

if the eyes are corrupted, then the heart follows(!!!)

It becomes like a rubbish heap where all the dirt and filth and rottenness collect, and so there is no room for love for Allah, relating all matters to Him, awareness of being in His presence, and feeling joy at His proximity –only the opposite of these things can inhabit such a heart.

Staring and gazing without restraint is disobedience to Allah !

'Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that is more purifying for them. Surely Allah is aware of what they do.
[Source:- Quran ~Surah an-Nur: Ayah # 30]

one who obeys Allah’s commands is content in this world, and only the servant who obeys Allah will survive in the next world. Letting the gaze run loose also makes the heart blind to distinguishing between truth and falsehood, between the sunnah and innovation: while lowering it for Allah [the Mighty and Exalted ] gives it a penetrating, true and distinguishing insight.

A righteous man once said: -
Whoever enriches his outward behaviour by following the sunnah, and makes his inward soul wealthy through contemplation, and averts his gaze away from looking at what is forbidden, and avoids anything of a doubtful nature, and feeds solely on what is halal- his inner sight will never falter.

Rewards for actions come in kind.Whoever lowers his gaze from what Allah has forbidden, Allah will give his inner sight abundant reward {!}

Hadith1
“It is narrated by Barā’ bin ‘Āzib(radiallahu taala anhu)  : We were on a journey with Allāh’s Messenger  . (On the way) we stayed at Ghadīr Khum. There it was announced that the prayer was about to be offered. The space under two trees was cleaned for Allāh’s Messenger . Then he offered the zuhr (noon) prayer , and, holding ‘Alī’s(radiallahu taala anhu) hand, he said: Don’t you know that I am even nearer than the lives of the believers? They said: Why not! He said: Don’t you know that I am even nearer than the life of every believer? They said: Why not! The narrator says  that he said while holding ‘Alī’ s hand: One who has me as his master has ‘Alī as his master. O Allāh! Befriend the one who befriends him (‘Alī) and be the enemy of one who is his enemy. The narrator says that after this ‘Umar ( bin al-Khattāb(radiallahu taala anhu)  met ‘Alī(radiallahu taala anhu)  and said to him: O I bn Abī Tālib! Congratulations, you have become the master of every male and female believer, morning and evening (forever).”

Ahmad bin Hambal related it from Barā’ bin ‘Āzib through two different chains of transmission in al-Musnad (4:281);

Note the phrase in the following hadith where Hazrat Umar E Farooq(radiallahu taala anhu) Congratulated Ali Al Murtuza (radiallahu taala anhu)

‘Umar ( bin al-Khattāb(radiallahu taala anhu)  met ‘Alī(radiallahu taala anhu)  and said to him: O I bn Abī Tālib! Congratulations, you have become the master of every male and female believer, morning and evening (forever).”
Ahmad bin Hambal in his book Fadā’il-us-sahābah (2:610 # 1042)
has added the following words in the tradition related to ‘Umar bin al-Khattāb .

 The Prophet  said:

(O Allāh!) Be the enemy of one who is his (‘Alī’s) enemy,  and help him who helps him, and love him who loves him. Shu‘bah says that the Prophet  said in its place, “Bear malice towards him who bears malice towards (‘Alī).”

Manāwī has written in  that when Abū Bakr  and ‘Umar had heard the Prophet’s saying — One who has me as his master has ‘Alī as his master — they said to
‘Alī  : O son of Abū Tālib! You have become the master of every male and female believer, morning and evening (for ever).”

Manāwī has written in Fayd-ul-qadīr (6:217)

 Dhahabī has said in Siyar a‘lām-in-nubalā’ that ‘Umar  uttered the words:
O ‘Alī! Congratulations

Dhahabī has said in Siyar a‘lām-in-nubalā’ (2:623, 624)

Hadith2

 “Abū Hurayrah  has narrated that one who fasted on 18 Dhul-hijjah will receive a reward equal to 60 months of fasting. This was the day of Ghadīr Khum when the Prophet  , holding ‘Alī bin Abī T ālib’s hand, said: Am I not the guardian of the believers? They said: why not, O messenger of Allāh! He said: One who has me as his master has ‘Alī as his master. At this ‘Umar bin al-Khattāb  said: congratulations! O I bn Abī Tālib! You are my master and (the master of ) every Muslim. (On this occasion) Allāh revealed this verse: Today, I have perfected your religion for you.”

That man said: this pot-bellied person (will decide between us)! ‘Umar  rose from his seat, caught him by the collar and lifted him from the ground. Then he said: Do you know that the person you consider worthless is my master as well as the master of every Muslim.”

Few people particularly the Shia have fabricated stories about Hazrat Umar radiallahu taala anhu Slapping bibi fathimatuz zuhra  radiallahu taala anhu, and other stories about him burning thier houses etc , All these are fake as you can see from these References how
he regarded the Ahle Bayt ,  the people from the Wilayat began, The Ahle Bayt .

People should understand that there are two legacies of the Holy Prophet Muhammed Sallalaahu Alaihi wasallam , one is the Spiritual Legacy and saintism  which continued from the Progeny  of the Holy Prophet Muhammed Sallalaahu Alaihi wasallam and then to Awliya .

And the other legacy is outwardly , The Legacy of Dominion which  continued through the Rightly Guided Khalifas beginning from Syedina Abu Bakr Siddique radiallahu taala anhu

Both the legatees gave support to each other whole heatedly

Death of Sayida Fathima radiallahu taala anhu

Narrated By Ummul Monineen Ayesha Sidqiqa radiallahu taala anhu
Ayeshah (radiallhu taala anhu ) narrates, “Fatimah (radiallahu taala anhu) came
and her way of walking was just like that of the Holy Prophet (Sallalaahu Alaihi wasallam). The Holy Prophet  (Sallalaahu Alaihi wasallam). welcomed his beloved daughter and seated her on his right hand side or on the left hand side. Then he whispered something to her which made her cry. So I asked her why she was crying. Then the Holy Prophet  whispered something to her and she laughed. So I said, ‘I have never seen happiness so close to sadness as I have seen today.’ I asked (Fatimah [radiallahu taala anhu ] ), ‘What did the Holy Prophet  say?’ She replied, ‘I cannot disclose the secret of the Messenger of Allah .’ When the Holy Prophet  passed away I asked her again (about this incident)
and she replied, ‘The Holy Prophet  whispered to me, ‘Every year Jibraeel recites the whole of the Quran with me once but this year he has recited it twice. I am sure that the end of my time in this world has come and indeed you are the first from my family who will come to me.’ This made me cry. Then the Holy Prophet whispered, ‘Are you not happy with the fact that you are the leader of the women of Paradise or the leader of all Muslim women To this I laughed.’”

Then she said, ‘O mother! Make my bed for me in the middle of the house,’ so I did accordingly. Then she laid down, faced towards the Kabah, placed her hand under her cheek and said, ‘O mother! GRAND MOSQUE in BRUSSELS BELGIUM

The impact of Islamic teachings on women

Abu Ayub Ansari, a prominent companion   The Qur’an is indeed a miracle that has withstood the test of time; not a single letter in it has changed over 14 centuries. Hundreds of thousands of Muslims memorize and preserve it in their hearts. Allah, the Exalted, promised to protect and preserve it. He says, “Surely We have revealed the Reminder, and We will most surely be its Guardian.” (Qur’an, 15:9) Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was initially accused, by the disbelievers of Makkah, of practicing sihr (witchcraft) over the early Muslims, as the unflinching change of their hearts toward the Qur’an’s monotheistic message could not be attributed to any human cause. In the Qur’an, Almighty Allah says, “And they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves, and the disbelievers say, ‘This is an enchanter, a liar’.” (Qur’an, 38:4) It is the same today. Whenever a Muslim adheres to the Qur’an, reciting it with understanding, reading its translation or exegesis with deep reflection, or teaching it to others, he or she undergoes a real change for the better in his or her lifestyle and habits, worship, dealings with others, and best of all in his or her innate spiritual self. Knowledge of the Qur’an improves the Muslim woman’s understanding of monotheism, the Oneness of Allah, in such a way that her Creator becomes the center of her existence. Her basic beliefs are rectified and her heart is cleansed from the impurity of shirk (polytheism), as she reads in the Qur’an, “Serve Allah, and join not any partners with Him.” (Qur’an, 4:36) She also experiences a gradual decline in the reverence of intangible deities that her heart previously harbored, such as strong love for the world and its adornments (e.g., fashionable clothes, jewelry, shoes, interior decor, and luxuries), the human base self’s innate desires, and dependence on physical means and people (who are among Allah’s creation) in achieving ends. Her attitude toward taharah (purity) in herself, her home, and her family also undergoes a radical change, so that she can be seen focusing more on simple, clean, clutter-free living rather than lavish opulence and exhibitionist extravagance. That is because Almighty Allah loves the repentant and the purified. He, the Exalted, says, “Surely Allah loves those who turn much (to Him), and He loves those who purify themselves.” (Qur’an, 2:222) Knowledgeable companionship with the Glorious Qur’an removes from a Muslim woman’s life all useless pastimes, such as window shopping, buying unnecessary possessions, watching soaps or drama on television, gossiping for hours on the phone, attending extravagant parties to ascend the social ladder, showing acquired assets off, and attending gatherings of innovative religious rituals. Eventually, the Qur’an enables her to relinquish social ills such as backbiting, mingling with members of the opposite sex, and indulging in impermissible entertainment (like films, music, dating, singing, and dancing). By refraining from all these ills, a Muslim woman will have ample time to pursue leisure-time activities and hobbies that will be more fruitful for her in the hereafter. Most Muslim girls and women who gain knowledge of Allah’s Book eventually start teaching what they learned to others or actively start volunteering for social work on a community level (e.g., feeding the poor, paying off others’ debts, facilitating marriages, counseling those who are aggrieved, and providing the needy with work). They also start to focus more on their family and on building its Islamic character. The major cause of this shift in focus is, as mentioned before, relinquishing mundane and time-wasting pursuits. Modesty in dress and dealings The more a Muslim woman studies the Qur’an, the more she becomes inclined to chastity, humbleness, and modesty. The Qur’an reconnects her to her fitrah (intrinsic human nature), and thus she starts becoming conscious of how she dresses in public, how she talks to men who are not mahrams (unmarriageable kins), and how she uses body language outside her house. In fact, all her manners undergo a noticeable change for the better: her dressing, her tone of voice, her conversational style, her sense of humor, her gestures, and her way of talking with men all become compliant with Allah’s ordainments in the Qur’an: “And do not display your finery like the displaying of the ignorance of yore, and keep up Prayer, and pay the poor rate, and obey Allah and His Messenger.” (Qur’an, 33:33) Deep understanding of the Qur’an leads to a high level of taqwa, which is piety, perpetual consciousness of Allah, and fear of His anger. This makes a Muslim woman extremely careful to give other people their due rights. This taqwa improves her relationships with them, making her more patient, tolerant, forgiving mistakes and shortcomings, and more kind to everyone in general. The Qur’an makes her more zealously cherish, obey, respect, and serve her parents, especially if she is single and free from the responsibilities of marriage and motherhood. She thus helps out more with household tasks instead of always going out with friends. She gives due attention to her parents’ advice and opinions and obeys their decisions regarding her marriage proposals. Similarly, the Qur’an reminds the married Muslim woman of the nature of her husband’s and children’s rights, which are her duties toward them. It is therefore not uncommon to see a husband (who himself might not be so practicing of the teaching of Islam beyond basic obligations) singing his wife’s praises once she starts studying the Qur’an. This is because he strongly feels the improvement in her overall character and conduct; he notices her hard work on the moral upbringing of their children and her increased dedication to her home life. He finds a warmer, happier home and family awaiting him each evening, so he openheartedly welcomes this change, which was brought about by the Qur’an’s effect on his wife. In the Qur’an, Almighty Allah says, (O humankind! There has come to you a direction from your Lord and a healing for the (diseases) in your hearts and, for those who believe, a guidance and a mercy.) (Qur’an, 10:57) Last but not least, the greatest blessing that the Qur’an gives to a Muslim woman is a heart filled with Allah’s love. This heart throbs with unadulterated faith and is free from any malice, rancor, hatred, or envy toward others; it is a heart that knows no despair of Allah’s mercy in bleak circumstances and is tranquil due to complete trust in Allah. This is the heart described by Allah Himself as the sound heart: “The day on which property will not avail, nor sons, except him who comes to Allah with a sound heart.” (Qur’an, 26:88–89)
